Location and care
Diervilla grows everywhere, both in sunny and shady spots. The shrub has few soil requirements, as long as it is well-drained, and tolerates drought remarkably well. Young plants need a little extra water, but after that they can largely fend for themselves. Light pruning in early spring and a little compost are sufficient for healthy growth and long flowering.

How big does Diervilla grow?
The Proven Winners® Kodiak® varieties grow to a height of approximately 90-120 cm and a width of 120-150 cm. Only Kodiak® Mixx is a more compact variety, growing to a height of 60-80 cm.
How and when should you prune Diervilla?
Diervillas are fast-growing varieties that produce ground shoots. It is recommended to prune them at least every 3-5 years to rejuvenate the shrub. Prune 1/3 of the thickest branches of the plant down to the ground (this can even be done mechanically).
