Create a special garden with special varieties

Would you like something different than the average garden plant? There are many ways to turn your garden into something extraordinary and planting a special variety is one of them. With unusual plants, you can create a unique atmosphere or appearance in your garden. These may be plants with remarkable leaves, a striking flower colour or an unusual inflorescence.

Specials with limited availability

Proven Winners® has several special varieties in its range. Like Cephalanthus Sugar Shack with its distinctive spherical red fruits or the wonderfully fragrant white flowers of Itea Scentlove®. And what about Punica Pompommy®, a dwarf pomegranate with bright orange flowers? All of them special plants! But you need a bit of luck, because even in our webshop, these products are not always in stock. Sold out? Click the ‘Notify me when in stock' button  and you'll be the first to know!

Two times special: Calycanthus Aphrodite

If you are looking for a very special plant with regular availability: check out Calycanthus Aphrodite in our webshop. This exotic beauty with magenta-red magnolia-like flowers is an absolute eye-catcher in your garden. Aphrodite is also a special Calycanthus variety because it not only flowers in early summer but all summer long. Therefore it is two times special.

Well-known favourites with hidden talents

Even if plants don't seem special, they can be. There are Proven Winners® varieties that seem ordinary, but when you read about their characteristics they turn out to be very special. For example, they flower exceptionally richly, are very vigorous or disease-resistant. With these plants you still have a special variety in your garden. Here are a few examples:

  • The Buddleja Chip® varieties. These are abundantly flowering butterfly bushes with a special low-growing habit. What makes them extra special are the sterile flowers: this means they do not spread and are not invasive.
  • The Chaenomeles Storm species. Normally dwarf quince varieties have thorns, but these are thornless! This makes gardening a lot more pleasant. Moreover, with their abundant flowers in early spring they look great in the vase.
  • The Proven Winners® Hydrangea arborescens varieties (e.g. Strong Annabelle®) have stronger branches then normal arborescens varieties, therefore the branches stay upright despite their large flowers. Even if it has rained. Ideal right?!

With unusual varieties, you always bring something special to your garden, whether you choose a unique eye-catcher or a well-known favourite with a hidden talent!
